Quick answer: to have Spotify consider your song for an editorial playlist, go to Spotify for Artists → Music → Upcoming, choose an unreleased song and fill in the pitch form with a description of up to 500 characters, at least 7 days before release (ideally 3–4 weeks). You can only send one song per release and there is no guarantee. With Diskover your song gets a double pitch: yours in Spotify for Artists and ours, sent directly to the editorial teams at Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon, where we land placements every week.
What is the Spotify pitch?
It’s a free tool inside Spotify for Artists that lets you send a not-yet-released song to Spotify’s editorial team. Editors review the submissions and decide whether they fit any of their editorial playlists. It’s the only official way for an artist to put their music forward to the editors.
Requirements to pitch
- Having access to your profile in Spotify for Artists (as the artist or as a team member). If you don’t have it yet, you’ll need your artist URI: see how to get your Spotify profile URI.
- The song must have been delivered to Spotify by your distributor and not yet released.
- Doing it at least 7 days in advance.
How to pitch in Spotify for Artists step by step
- Upload your release to your distributor 3–4 weeks ahead. We explain it in how to upload your music to Spotify.
- Open Spotify for Artists (web or app) and go to Music → Upcoming.
- Click pitch a song next to the release and choose the track with the most potential (only one per release).
- Fill in the details: genres, styles, moods, instruments, language, whether it’s a cover or remix, and where you’re from.
- Write the description (up to 500 characters).
- Add your marketing plan: socials, press, gigs, video, campaigns.
- Submit. You won’t be able to edit it afterwards, so check everything first.
What to write in the pitch (with an example)
Editors read a huge number of submissions. Be specific and give context they can’t hear in the audio:
- What the song is about and why you made it.
- Which artists or playlists it fits with.
- Data that shows traction: monthly listeners, results of your previous release, social followers, a viral video.
- What you’ll do to promote it: music video, tour, press, collaborations, a TikTok campaign.
Example:
“Fuego Lento” is a romantic dembow track with acoustic guitar, recorded in Madrid with producers from the Dominican Republic. It’s about a long-distance relationship. My last single passed 120,000 streams in 6 weeks and got into user playlists in the genre. For this release we have a music video on release day, a campaign with 30 TikTok creators and two gigs in Madrid and Barcelona. It fits with artists like [artista de referencia].
When should you pitch?
The minimum is 7 days before release, but the sooner the better: 3 to 4 weeks gives editors time to listen properly. Plus, if you pitch at least 7 days ahead, the song will appear in your followers’ Release Radar.
What happens after the pitch?
Spotify doesn’t reply to every submission. If you’re selected, you’ll see it in Spotify for Artists in the song’s stats after release. If you don’t get in, it doesn’t mean your song is bad: editors receive far more submissions than they have slots. Even so, the information you send helps Spotify understand your music and recommend it better.
How to improve your chances
- Release consistently and pitch every release.
- Get pre-saves and real listens in the first 24–72 hours.
- Complete your profile: photo, bio, Canvas, artist pick.
- Work with a distributor that has a relationship with the editors and can back up your release.
- Combine the pitch with tools like Discovery Mode to grow in algorithmic playlists.
- Run campaigns with micro-influencers on ZYNK Creators (10% off for Unlimited and PRO artists) so your song is heard on TikTok and Instagram from day one.
Diskover’s double pitch
When you distribute with Diskover, your release doesn’t depend only on the Spotify for Artists form:
- You upload the release 3–4 weeks in advance (and if you’re in a hurry, it’s on Spotify in less than 24 hours).
- You pitch in Spotify for Artists.
- We present it to the editorial teams at Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon, with your plan’s priority.
- We back it up with our own playlists (from Unlimited) and, where it fits, with Discovery Mode, for which we’re an official Spotify partner.
- On PRO, we choose the exact release time on Spotify with you, to line it up with a music video, press or a live show.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get Spotify to put my song on a playlist?
Send the unreleased song through the Spotify for Artists pitch at least 7 days before release, with complete information and a promotion plan. There’s no guarantee, but it’s the official route.
How many songs can I pitch?
One song per release. If you’re releasing an EP or album, choose the one with the most potential.
Can I pitch a song that’s already out?
No. The pitch is only available for songs that haven’t been released yet.
How much does it cost to pitch on Spotify?
Nothing. The Spotify for Artists pitch is free. Be wary of anyone who charges you to “get you onto” an editorial playlist.
How many characters can the pitch description have?
Up to 500 characters.
Does Diskover pitch for me?
Diskover presents your releases directly to the editorial teams at Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon, on top of the pitch you do in Spotify for Artists. Priority depends on the plan: low on Starter, medium on Unlimited and maximum on PRO.
