Spotify Discovery Mode: grow your audience with no upfront investment
After two years of constant work, we are happy to share great news with our whole community: Diskover is now part of the exclusive group of distributors that can access Spotify’s Discovery Mode.
A tool designed to take your music further, and one you can now use too if you are part of our family 💙
What is Spotify Discovery Mode?
Discovery Mode is a Spotify feature for artists and teams that amplifies the reach of certain songs on the platform.
How does it do it? By recommending those songs in contexts such as Autoplay, personalised radio or playlists like Daily Mix, where listeners discover new music organically.
In other words: more visibility, more discovery… and more fans.
Key benefits of Discovery Mode
- Greater international reach: around 58% of first listens of songs in Discovery Mode come from listeners outside the artist’s home country, making it easier to take your music global.
- Fan base growth: during the first month of a Discovery Mode campaign, artists have seen an average increase of 50% in saves, 44% in playlist adds and 37% in new followers.
- No upfront costs: no budget is needed to get started. Instead, Spotify applies a 30% commission on the royalties generated by streams in Discovery Mode contexts. Streams outside those contexts are not subject to this commission.
Requirements to take part
For a song to be eligible for Discovery Mode, it must meet the following criteria:
- You must have at least 3 eligible songs distributed through a Spotify-approved distributor… like Diskover! 😉
- It must have been on Spotify for at least 30 days.
- It must have built up at least 20 streams in Discovery Mode contexts in the last 28 days.
- It must meet the monetisation criteria set by Spotify.
How do you activate it with Diskover?
If you are part of Diskover and want your music to join Discovery Mode, we will send you a personalised form so you can tell us you would like to take part.
Once you complete it, we take care of everything together with the Spotify team.
Final considerations
While Discovery Mode offers a valuable opportunity to increase your music’s visibility, it is important to remember that its effectiveness depends on the quality of the songs and how they resonate with the audience. Also, since it means lower royalties on certain streams, it is essential to assess whether the benefits in exposure and growth make up for it.
One step closer to the goal
This new step is a big win for all the independent artists who trust Diskover.
We know how important it is to have real tools to grow, which is why we are so proud to give you access to a feature that used to be available only to a very limited group.
Thank you for your trust. Thank you for pushing. And congratulations, because this is yours too.
Now, for real: your music has no borders.
Diskover + Spotify Discovery Mode = the boost your career needs.
